Picton Castle, a three masted barque, is coming to Bristol in two weeks. An Introductory Bosun School coming for first time to Bristol from June 24 - July 3 for ages 18 to 30. Boat will be tied up at Rockwell Town Dock.

For the first time ever, an introductory Bosun School will be offered at Bristol, Rhode Island, USA for any young people with an interest in advancing their skills in the marine trades. This short course will pack all the basics, including rigging skills, parcelling and serving, coatings and mixtures, knots and splices, small boat handling under sail, power and oar, basic sailmaking, seizings, and wire splicing into ten short days, from June 24 to July 3, 2012. Amorita’s Unlucky Day  07.07.07

Movie trailer for the upcoming documentary film about “Amorita”, a classic Herreshoff designed yacht involved in a horrendous crash that sent it instantaneously to the bottom of the ocean. Miraculously nobody was killed, and the yacht was eventually rescued and rebuilt. Film includes recently released footage of the accident and sinking. 
Film premiers June 26 in Newport, Rhode Island, Jane Pickens Theater.

The Community String Project presents a Gala Benefit Concert on Saturday, June 16, 6 - 9 p.m. at the historic Wheaton House, private home of Prescott and Keri Cronin, 90 Union St., Warren.

An Evening of Strings: Michael Reynolds of the Muir String Quartet, in an Intimate Performance of Bach Cello Suites. Join us in the garden for music, wine, hors d’oeuvres, a silent and live auction, and desserts by Pastiche and The Cake Gallery. Michael Reynolds is a founding member of the world-renowned Muir String Quartet of Boston. He has performed throughout North America, Europe and the Far East and is co-founder and Director of the Classics for Kids Foundation, which supports children’s string programs around America through matching grants for beautiful new instruments.

Jackie Henderson, dancer extraordinaire and exercise life coach/trainer, in Middletown is offering a FREE Mob Dance rehearsal series that began last Wednesday May 23, 2012 and will run for six more weeks before the surprise performance in downtown Newport on July 7. The location is a secret. About 35 people showed up for the first session. She’d like to have at least 100 people participate in this FUN event. ADULT SAILING PROGRAM 2012 - EAST BAY SAILING FOUNDATION AT BRISTOL YACHT CLUB

This program run by Jim Dollins gets better and better every year. If you haven’t tried it yet you should. The instructors are top rate and it’s a fabulous way to get out on the water at least once a week (for eight weeks) without the expense and hassle of owning your own boat!

Price: $340. per person; $225. per person for Advanced 420s.   Herreshoff 12.5 classes are held at Herreshoff Marine Museum; All other classes meet at Bristol Yacht Club.

Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-9pm. Friday afternoons from 1-4pm on Mercurys.


Herreshoff to celebrate the third and the fourth! This will be a really fun event. On the Fourth they will also have some FOOD TRUCKS and don’t forget the post parade SAILING!
